Cooper Creek Downspout Survey
Why this Survey is Important:
We are exploring the potential for implementing a "reverse auction", within the Demonstration Watershed, to pay property owners to allow us to disconnect any of their downspouts for them. Labor and materials, as well as optional drainage and erosion control consultation, may be provided in addition to monetary payment. This 3-minute survey will help us to assess local demand and develop a budget for the effort.
Response to this survey does NOT constitute "a bid", but will get you on the list to place a bid in the future if you so choose.
Why Disconnect Downspouts:
Many of the downspouts draining our roofs are directly connected to the storm sewer system, which is routed to the creek. This contributes to "urban hydrologic alteration" which is severely impacting our creek. By allowing our downspouts to drain to our lawns, where the water can soak into the soil, we reduce erosive flash flows in the creek and recharge groundwater which provides water to the creek between rainfall events.
